US-based church donates Rs. 330 million in oncology medicines, agrees to 600 wheelchairs for Sri Lanka

Oncology medicines worth Rs. 330 million have been donated to Sri Lanka for cancer patients by the US-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through Latter-day Saint Charities. The organisation has also signed an agreement to provide 600 specialised wheelchairs for patients with spinal cord injuries.

The medicines were officially handed over to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media on October 14. The wheelchair donation agreement was signed at the ministry as well.

The organisation previously donated 570 wheelchairs to Sri Lanka in 2023. Under the latest initiative, healthcare personnel will also receive specialised training in wheelchair prescription, use and maintenance.
