Sri Lanka records 1,642,215 tourist arrivals by September 20, 2026

The latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority showed that Sri Lanka recorded 1,642,215 tourist arrivals from January 1 to September 20, 2026.

Arrivals in the first 20 days of September totalled 107,093. Indian tourists accounted for 30% of the total arrivals in September, with 32,536 visitors, the highest number of arrivals from a single country during the period.

Between September 1 and 20, 7,906 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom and 7,393 from Australia.

India remained the largest source market for Sri Lanka during the year so far, with 418,019 tourist arrivals. The United Kingdom ranked second, with 157,895 tourists visiting Sri Lanka during the period.
