Low-pressure system moving west of Sri Lanka as showers expected

A low-pressure system in the vicinity of Sri Lanka is moving westward away from the island. The influence of this system may persist today.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and North-western provinces and in Anuradhapura and Galle districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur after 1.00 p.m. elsewhere on the island, and fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in these areas.

The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.
