Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm likely in several provinces of Sri Lanka

The Department of Meteorology said showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today (12). Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura and Mannar districts.

Showers or thundershowers are also likely at some places in the Ampara, Batticaloa and Mullaitivu districts during the morning. Misty conditions may occur at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.

The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimise possible damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
