Afternoon thundershowers expected in most parts of the island from today

Atmospheric conditions are becoming favorable for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the island from today (01). Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m.

Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern and North central provinces and in Mannar district. The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.
