The project was launched to provide permanent homes for families affected by the Ditwa disaster in the Mahiyanganaya Divisional Secretariat Division of the Badulla District.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The project was inaugurated on April 30 under the patronage of Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyarathna.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The Government allocated Rs. 50 million under the first phase to construct 11 houses for families whose homes were completely destroyed by the disaster. All 11 houses have reached the roofing stage within less than three months of the project's launch.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Construction of an additional five houses has also commenced at the same site, bringing the total number of houses under construction to 16.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Preparations have been completed to begin the second phase of the project as soon as the next allocation of funds is received. As part of the Government’s comp...","\u003Cp>Several families affected by the recent severe storm in the Welimada Divisional Secretariat Division officially received compensation and livelihood assistance today.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Four homeowners whose houses were completely destroyed by the storm received the first installment of compensation cheques worth Rs. 2 million each as part of the Government’s compensation scheme. The payments were made under the maximum compensation package of Rs. 5 million allocated for fully damaged houses.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>In addition, 78 affected families in the area were granted financial assistance ranging from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 75,000 to help them restart and develop their livelihoods disrupted by the disaster.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>A special ceremony was held at the Welimada Divisional Secretariat.
