The Court of Appeal has informed that a decision on considering the writ petition filed, challenging the decision reached by the Attorney General to refrain from taking forward charges against former Commander of the Navy Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, will be announced on Monday.
The writ petition was taken up before a Court of Appeal bench comprising Justices Sobitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola today.
Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda and 13 other naval officers were charged in connection with the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth in Colombo for ransom during 2008 and 2009.
However, the State Counsel representing the Attorney General informed the Court of Appeal that the charges filed against Former Commander of the Navy Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda will not be continued.
