‘Year on year budget deficit increased by 94% compared to 2019’

Parliamentarian Harsha De Silva says during the first seven months of this year, the budget deficit has increased by 94 percent in comparison to the same period in 2019.

Parliamentarian Harsha De Silva says during the first seven months of this year, the budget deficit has increased by 94 percent in comparison to the same period in 2019.

MP De Silva the government does not have a clear idea about where the country’s economy is heading.

He said while state revenue had been only Rs. 798 billion until July this year, the expenditures had been recorded at Rs. 1,015 billion.

The Parliamentarian stressed that such matters must be deliberated at length.

MP Harsha De Silva said although the government claims it is aware of its programme, the present administration does not have a clear path for economic recovery.
