COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Day two of the adjournment debate on the 2021 X-Press Pearl vessel maritime disaster will get underway this morning.

The debate got under yesterday following concerns raised by Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe over the timing of the debate.

The Justice Minister said since a court case has been filed, details that the Members of Parliament will reveal during the debate could be used against the nation.

He said while more investigations are taking place, he is of the view that all MPs should extend their support instead of debating and revealing sensitive information.

Part leaders’ yesterday agreed to go ahead with the debate with certain conditions.

Meanwhile, Parliament is scheduled to convene at 9.30am.
