Leader of the JVP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayaka says wrong predictions made based on inaccurate data have led the country towards a disaster amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking during a media briefing at the party headquarters MP Dissanayaka said the government has failed to provide accurate data pertaining to COVID-19 cases and deaths to the public thus far.

MP Dissanayaka claimed the government led by the President is engaged in a fatal sport.

He noted during a pandemic it is important to predict future situations to reach relevant decisions.

The MP added such predictions can be reached based on accurate data and information.

He said however no citizen believes the data released at present pertaining to the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths, adding that predictions made based on the present data are inaccurate.

He charged the inaccurate predictions reached by the government based on false data has also contributed to over 150 persons succumbing daily.

MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka requested the public to take necessary steps and impose self restrictions to protect themselves against the coronavirus.

He noted if the government doesn’t intervene, the public must take all steps to safeguard themselves and their loved ones.
