COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Ministry of Health says it will use allocations from the World Bank to procure essential medicines in short supply at Base hospitals across the country.
Project Director of the World Bank’s Primary Health Care System Strengthening Project Dr. Jayasundara Bandara said they are hoping to purchase stocks of medicine needed for three months, at the earliest.
Dr. Bandara said the procured medicine stocks will be given through the Health Ministry.
At present, there is a short supply of medicine at Base hospitals.
Dr. Jayasundara Bandara said there are issues at pharmacies of state hospitals and they are hoping to supply necessary medicine stocks through World Bank funding which will allow them to give the necessary doses to patients attending regular clinics as well.
