The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says they are not prepared to defend any individual linked to the death of the 16-year-old at the residence of Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo today, Parliamentarian Eran Wickramaratne said suspects in connection to the incident must be treated regardless of their rank or distinction.
He assured the incident was not one of racist motives.
The SJB MP added authorities cannot leave room for harassment of women adding the law must be enacted against suspects.
He assured the SJB will stand for the aggrieved child.
MP Wickramaratne called for the judiciary to take action against perpetrators of the incident.
He recalled how the government promised to take action against the controversial Treasury bond transactions and made that an election pledge, yet failed to do so to date.
MP Wickramaratne also requested the government to introduce laws preventing children from being employed as domestic workers.
He directed attention towards amending the current legal framework to protect women and children from exploitation.
In agreement with protocol of the International Labour Organisation, the Parliamentarian claimed Sri Lanka blacklisted 51 occupations as irrelevant for children, that did not include domestic labour.
However, the MP called for it to be included in the legal system as well.
