The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has questioned Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage of his stance, as he previously claimed that he will resign from his post of Minister of Agriculture if rice is imported.
Parliamentarian Hesha Vithanage addressing media said the decision by the Cabinet of Ministers has tarnished Minister Aluthgamage’s reputation.
MP Withanage said media gimmicks will not help control the price of rice.
The MP said various statements were put forth by Ministers, with Minister Bandula Gunawardana claiming a fine will be imposed if rice is not provided at the concessionary rate and failure to adhere to the control price.
He claimed the government’s Gazette issuance has become a game and charged the administration of forgetting the hardships faced by the public.
