The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says it will extend maximum support to the government in mitigating the coronavirus.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Parliamentarian JC Alawathuwala said the situation in the country is more critical, when comparing the death ratio to the population in Sri Lanka and India.
He said the government must be more sensitive towards people’s issues during the coronavirus pandemic and reach suitable decisions.
MP Alawathuwala assured the opposition will support the government if they table a plan to protect public lives.
MP Alawathuwala noted the time is apt to unite and roll out a plan to save lives from the pandemic.
State Minister Kanchana Wijesekera joining the debate said protests are organised by certain factions to curtail development in the government.
The State Minister said certain Parliamentarians are using privileges to create deceit in the house.
The State Minister said the Opposition spread false claims that the decision by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to ban the import of chemical fertiliser was reversed.
The State Minister said the President reached a decision despite many difficulties, to ban the import of chemical fertiliser, as people must be given healthy food instead of chemicals.
State Minister Wijesekera said many people attempted to discredit the governments vaccination drive, and have not realised that it has been a success.
