State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Channa Jayasumana says steps will be taken to obtain the necessary vaccines doses of the Russian manufactured Sputnik-V vaccine required for the second dose in the next few weeks.
Speaking during an observational tour of the Homagama Hospital yesterday, State Minister Jayasumana said the 15,000 doses of Sputnik-V vaccine received this morning are expected to be administered to individuals in the Kandy District.
The State Minister said doctors confirmed that individuals who have been fully vaccinated will rarely face complications if the coronavirus is contracted while symptoms will also be minimal.
