Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe says he has filed a case before Court seeking the removal of Basil Rajapaksa as the Minister of Finance and as a Member of Parliament.
Speaking to media in Kandy today, MP Rajapakshe said he filed the case based on the agreement to transfer shares of the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi Power Plant to an American firm.
The MP said he would do his utmost to prevent the transfer of shares of the power plant.
The Parliamentarian said the agreement is a major fraud, claiming it was signed in secret at midnight.
He added several cases against the agreement are already being heard before the Supreme Court.
MP Rajapakshe also stated that Basil Rajapaksa, as an American citizen, signing the agreement is unconstitutional.
MP Rajapakshe on a separate note said the process followed by the present government to draft a new Constitution undermines Parliament.
He said a year ago he made a statement that a new Constitution should not be expected under the current government.
The MP added there is a clear process that must be followed, adding that a group of attorneys or a group of experts cannot merely compile a document for approval.
MP Rajapakshe said the power to formulate laws in the country is vested with the Legislature, that is the Parliament, adding that he believes other Members of Parliament too will not agree with such a haphazard process.
He noted he will not condone autocratic decisions.
