The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says there is no necessity to increase tariffs on the water supply to homes.
Speaking to media in Kandy, General Manager Thilina Wijetunga said the government hopes to create a healthy society by providing water at affordable in comparison to procurement and treatment costs.
He assured the Water Board had no plans to increase prices in the next three years, as the internal economy was in equilibrium considering all factors.
Wijetunga added prices depend on imported chlorine and petroleum to run generators to purify water and pump as well.
