COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says it has more than R.6 billion in unpaid water bills.
The Assistant General Manager of the Water Board, Ekanayake Weerasinghe said around 800,000 households are three months or more behind on their water bills.
Assistant General Manager Ekanayake Weerasinghe added that it has already sent out notices to consumers who have outstanding bills for over 60 days.
He said from January, the Water Board will be compelled to disconnect water supply of consumers who have outstanding bills.
