State Minister of Money & Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal says the government commenced the vaccination programme at the correct and earliest opportunity.
Speaking to media in Anuradhapura, State Minister Cabraal said Sri Lanka was unable to commence the vaccination programme earlier as the country did not produce vaccines.
He said the country had to procure vaccines from other nations amidst a large demand from vaccine producers themselves.
The State Minister said Sri Lanka is now administering vaccine doses as soon as consignments reach the island.
State Minister Cabraal said since the world is facing a pandemic, predictions of its end cannot be made.
