Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka David Holly says the spread of misinformation challenged the successful vaccination drive and efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking during a discussion with the Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella, the High Commissioner said the situation is the same in both Australia and Sri Lanka, adding that it poses challenges when facing a global pandemic.
High Commissioner David Holly said 11 million Australian dollars had been provided in aid, for COVID mitigation efforts in Sri Lanka thus far.
Minister Rambukwella said the government has focused its attention towards uplifting the economy in line with the vaccination drive, adding therefore the country will be reopened in phases, to uplift the economy.
