A study has revealed that the mortality rate of individuals above the age of 50 years who have not been vaccinated is 8.1 times higher than those who have received the Chinese manufactured Sinopharm vaccine.

The Head of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura Prof. Neelika Malavige said no deaths have been reported thus far among those over the age of 50 who had been vaccinated with either Pfizer BioNtech, AstraZeneca or Russian manufactured Sputnik-V vaccines.

Prof. Malavige taking to Twitter, citing the first study to compare the efficacy of the Sinopharm, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sputnik-V vaccines said, all four vaccines have been effective in reducing COVID deaths compared to those who have not been vaccinated prior to, and during the period when the Delta variant became dominant.
