COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says the third generator of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant will be shut down for 100 days from the 13th of June.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said the generator will be shut down for scheduled major overhaul maintenance work.
The Minister said however power cuts will not be imposed.
He said power generation will be managed with other thermal power plants.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera also confirmed that the 30th cargo of coal for the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant is being unloaded at present.
He said accordingly, the full coal requirement of the Ceylon Electricity Board for this season has been fulfilled.
The Minister stressed that there will be no blackouts as speculated earlier by CEB unions and certain media outlets.
