COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Professionals’ Trade Union Collective is scheduled to hold a meeting today to discuss the steps that can be taken against the recent tax amendments.

Representatives of around 40 trade unions including the Government Medical Officers’ Association, the Federation of University Teachers’ Associations and several unions attached to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ceylon Electricity Board are scheduled to attend the meeting today.

The meeting will take place at the GMOA headquarters in Colombo.

Last week, unions staged a token strike demanding the government to withdraw the recent tax amendment which they claim is unreasonable and unfair.
