COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Association says more than 60 train journeys could get cancelled tomorrow.

Chairman of the Association Sumedha Somaratne said due to the retirement of nearly 500 employees yesterday, several train journeys were cancelled today as well.

He said they cannot predict the exact amount but stressed that a large number of journeys will get cancelled.

Sumedha Somaratne said this will result in people heading to work for the first time this year, agitated.

He said train cancellations will severally inconvenience the people heading to work tomorrow.

Chairman of the Association Sumedha Somaratne claimed that necessary steps have not been taken to absorb employees who retired yesterday on contract basis.

He said the matter had been raised on several occasions but to no avail.
