The Federation of University Teachers Association will engage in a one-day token strike today in support of protests at Galle Face, calling for the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Accordingly, the protests will be held at state universities island-wide.
FUTA has also organised a protest march today, that will commence from the University of Colombo and reach Galle Face.
FUTA President, Prof. at the University of Peradeniya, Shyama Banneheka speaking to NewsRadio said they are sensitive towards public needs during the political and economic crisis in Sri Lanka.
He said the government is not showing signs of heeding public demands.
The Association also requested that academic activities at state universities resume under full capacity, at the earliest.
