COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Two trade union leaders have been arrested for allegedly threatening members of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.

Police Media Spokesman Nihal Thalduwa said the duo is charged with threatening and intimidating Deputy Chairman of the PUCSL Udeni Wickremesinghe and Member of the Commission Professor Mohan Samaranayake.

The two members lodged a complaint calling for a probe over the incident of alleged storming of union leaders into the PUCSL office down St. Anthony’s Road, Colpetty on Sunday (22).

The two members have also requested the Ministry of Finance to conduct an investigation to find out as to how trade union members who stormed in knew that they were inside the office at the time.

The development comes as the two PUCSL members questioned the recent decisions taken by the Chairman of the PUCSL.

Police said the arrested individuals, aged 48 and 63 are residents of Mellawagedara and Wattala.

They are scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.
