Names of Ajith Rajapakse and Rohini Kumari Wijerathna have been nominated for the Deputy Speaker’s post.
The opposition proposed the name of Matale District Parliamentarian Rohini Kumari Wijerathna while the government nominated the name of Hambanthota District MP Ajith Rajapakse.
Meanwhile, at the commencement of today’s session, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has accepted the resignation of Ranjith Siyambalapitiya as the Deputy Speaker, effective 6th of May.
