Two suspects have been arrested for extorting Rs.700,000 from a 33-year-old female in Wellawatte.
The arrest was made by the Police Women and Child Bureau. Police said the woman, who was in a relationship with an individual in the United Kingdom, was being threatened by the individual of releasing her photographs online.
The two suspects, on the instructions of the individual in the UK, had planned to meet the female at Union Place to obtain the money.
However, they were arrested at the location by Police.
