(NewsRadio); Another two elephants have been killed after being hit by a train early this morning.
Police said a tusker and a calf were hit by a train plying to Colombo from Batticaloa at around 12.30am.
The calf had died after being hit by the train immediately while the tusker succumbed to injuries this afternoon.
Separately, four wild elephants were killed after being hit by a train between Ambanpola and Galgamuwa stations.
The group of elephants was hit by a Colombo bound Kankesanturai night mail at around 11.30pm yesterday.
The engine of the train was also damaged by the incident.
