Two persons have been arrested over the protest launched by the Inter University Students’ Federation yesterday.
Police said the Administrative Secretary of the Frontline Socialist Party, Chameera Koswatta and another individual have been arrested over the demonstration.
Meanwhile, the Officer in Charge of the Maharagama Police Station has been hospitalised after sustaining injuries due to an accident during a protest organised by the Inter University Students’ Federation yesterday adjacent to Parliament.
The accident occurred when protesters attempted to break down barriers and move forward despite Police orders.
Two fingers of the Maharagama OIC have been fractured in the accident.
Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said a special investigation has been launched into the incident.
The OIC had been in charge of one of the Police teams deployed yesterday during the protest.
