A coordinated search operation by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police in Negombo has led to the arrest of two individuals suspected to have collected money from individuals promising foreign jobs.
The arrest was made on the 4th of January.
The search operation was carried out with the assistance of the Negombo Police following information received by the Naval Intelligence Unit.
Accordingly, a suspicious car was intercepted with the suspects onboard.
The suspects had reportedly collected Rs.5 million from 20 individuals promising jobs overseas through illegal migration.
The 30 and 41 year old suspects are residents of Chilaw and Kilinochchi.
The duo has been handed over to the Negombo Police for further legal action.
