The wife of Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen, the MP’s father-in-law and another person who brokered the employment of a 16-year-old girl as a domestic worker who died at the MPs residence from burn injuries, will be produced in Court today.
Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said the trio will be charged with human trafficking violations and sexually exploiting a minor.
The Borella Police, Colombo South Crimes Investigation Division and the Colombo South Women and Child Bureau will conduct further investigations on the incidents.
Meanwhile, the MP’s brother-in-law who was arrested over allegations of sexually abusing a 22-year-old domestic worker at the residence of MP Bathiudeen between 2015-2019, will be produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court today.
