Two persons were killed when a trap gun set up for hunting triggered in the Muriyakalla tank grounds in Tirappane, Anuradhapura.
The two individuals, 44 and 60 years of age, were traveling to the field with another individual when the incident was reported.
The third individual however sustained injuries when another trap gun set up, triggered when he was traveling on an alternative route to seek the assistance of area residents.
Police said the individual has been admitted to hospital.
An individual has been arrested by the Tirappane Police in connection to the incident while several suspicious items in his possession have been seized.
