Fiji secured the gold medal of the Men’s Rugby Sevens event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games after beating New Zealand 27-12 in the final.
It was Fiji’s first medal of the 2020 Tokyo games.
They led 19-07 at half time after scoring three tries.
Although skipper Scott Curry opened the scoring for his team, he could not lead New Zealand to their first gold medal of the Tokyo Olympics.
New Zealand has so far won a silver from Rowing and a bronze in the Men’s Triathlon event.
Meanwhile, earlier Argentina beat Great Britain 17-12 to secure the bronze medal of the Men’s Rugby Sevens event.
It is Argentina’s only medal of the 2020 Olympics thus far.
