Sri Lanka’s national Judo champion Chamara Nuwan Dharmawardana has been knocked out of the Judo Men’s 73kg event of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games by Aden-Alexandre Houssein of Djibouti.
Houssein defeated Dharmawardana 10-0 in the Elimination Round of 32 at the Nippon Budokan arena this morning.
Dharmawardana is the fourth Sri Lankan to be eliminated from the Tokyo Olympic Games without making a telling performance.
Meanwhile, Badminton Ace Niluka Karunaratne will feature in another Group F encounter of the Men’s Singles draw this afternoon.
Karunaratne will meet Ireland’s Nguyen Nhat at 3.50pm Sri Lanka time.
He was beaten 2-0 by Chinese Taipei’s Tzu Wei Wang in his first game on Saturday. Wang defeated Karunaratne 21-12 and 21-15.
