COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, Central, North-western and North-central provinces and in the Mannar district during the afternoon or night.

It added fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places.

Showers or thundershowers can also be expected in the Western and Southern provinces in the morning.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The Met Department added that due to the northward relative motion, the sun will be directly over the Bemmulla, Thihariya, Pupuressa, Teripaha, Wadinagala and Thirukkovil at around 12:12pm today.
