Tiran Alles summons senior Policemen over murders & drug rackets

Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles has informed the Inspector General of Police and senior officers of the Police Department to take maximum measures to prevent murders and the circulation of narcotics.

The Minister summoned the officers to the Ministry of Public Security this morning (16) to inquire into the investigation into the brutal murder of prominent businessman Dinesh Schaffter and the progress of Police investigations into drug rackets.

IGP CD Wickramaratne, Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshbandu Tennakoon, Commander of the Police Special Task Force DIG Varuna Jayasundara, DIG of the Special Bureau Dhanapala, DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department Prasad Ranasinghe, Director of the Colombo Crimes Division Assistant Superintendent of Police Neville de Silva and ASP Sumit Gunaratne of the Ministerial Coordinating Division were part of the meeting.

Minister Alles said as murders and drug trafficking by organised criminal gangs is a threat to society, senior Policemen must take to measures to prevent such crimes in society regardless of the status of those involved.
