Three wild elephants have died after being hit by a train between the Gal Oya and Hathareskotuwa Railway stations this morning.

(NewsRadio); Three wild elephants have died after being hit by a train between the Gal Oya and Hathareskotuwa Railway stations this morning.

The Railway Control Room said the train which left the Batticaloa Railway Station at 01.30am to the Colombo Fort Railway Station had derailed after colliding with the elephants.

The incident had occurred at 5.05am and services have not resumed thus far.
