Three students are reported missing after drowning in the sea in Medawatte, Matara.

Police said the students, 17 and 18 years of age, were bathing in the sea when they were swept away by the current.

The three students are residents of Kamburupitiya and Makandura.

The trio were in Matara to attend a tuition class.

The Matara Police and area residents are engaged in search operations for the three missing students.
