COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Three youth have been apprehended for obstructing duties of Police officers in Wattala last night.
The Police Media Division said the trio who was traveling in a three-wheeler along a byroad in Hendala junction while shouting had been stopped by Police officers on duty for inspection.
Officers on duty had found that all three were under the influence.
Police said when the officers on duty had attempted to apprehend the driver; the group had assaulted the officers and fled the area.
Subsequently, the officers had alerted the Wattala Police about the incident.
Police said a team from the Wattala Police managed to apprehend the trio while fleeing in the three-wheeler in Wattala.
The arrested individuals, aged 25, 29 and 30 are residents of Mabola, Wattala.
All three individuals are scheduled to be produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court today.
Officers who were injured in the incidents are receiving treatment at the Ragama Teaching Hospital.
