COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The World Bank has commended the steps taken by the government to revive the economy.
State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said during a special discussion with the World Bank’s Country Director for Sri Lanka, Faris Hadad-Zervos, the government was encouraged to continue on its path of further governance reforms, a comprehensive debt restructuring and progress on an International Monetary Fund programme.
World Bank’s Country Director has applauded the initiatives of the government to revive the economy.
World Bank’s Country Director Faris Hadad-Zervos has said the incumbent government is demonstrating its commitment by taking a number of measures to restore the weakened economy, and encouraged it to continue on its path of further governance reforms.
According to the official communiqué, Director Faris Hadad-Zervos has stated that the World Bank is closely monitoring the situation in Sri Lanka.
In addition to State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe several Finance Ministry officials were part of the discussion with World Bank officials.
