The Ceylon Teachers Service Union says it will stage a Sathyagraha campaign from 10 this morning with several trade unions.
Secretary of the Union Mahinda Jayasinghe said trade union action is being launched against the unjust programme carried out by the government, while failing to provide solutions to teachers demands for over 30 days.
He stressed, unions of the private sector, state sector, semi-government and estates will join the Sathyagraha campaign.
He noted the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed by the government to resolve teachers demands has not held discussions with teachers and principals unions thus far.
He added the union remains vigilant regarding the actions of the Sub-Committee.
Jayasinghe stressed trade union action will continue if a solution is not provided, till the struggle becomes a people’s movement.
