A special discussion is scheduled to be held at 2 this afternoon between the teachers’ and principals’ trade unions and trade union representatives from other sectors.
The Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Service Union, Mahinda Jayasinghe said the aim of the discussion is to obtain the support of other trade unions including medical, train, water, electricity, and ports for their trade union struggle focused on addressing salary anomalies.
Jayasinghe said 26 teachers and principals who engaged in a protest in Kandy organised by parents have been issued notices.
He said required legal and moral support to these individuals even though some had not attended protests organised by the CTSU will be provided.
