The March 12 Movement says the leadership of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna must take the initiative to conduct a formal disciplinary inquiry into the derogatory statement made by Parliamentarian Janaka Tissa Kuttiarachchi towards a female Member of Parliament.

Issuing in a statement, Convener of the Movement Rohana Hettiarachchi said MP Tissa Kuttiarachchi must take steps to unconditionally withdraw his demeaning statement.

The March 12 Movement said the Parliamentarian should be humble and apologise to the MP who was the target of his statement.

The statement said the Speaker of House must take action to show Parliament through action that he does not approve of policies that degrade female political activists
