The government today agreed to table the documents related to the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi Power Plant agreement.
Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today requested the government to table the agreement that was reached with an American company to vest 40 percent of the shares of the Yugadanavi Power Plant.
Former Prime Minister Wickremesinghe noted that the United National Party and several political parties have not seen the agreement to make a determination.
The UNP Leader noted that they want to examine the documents before making a stance on the Yugadanavi Power Plant agreement.
In response, Leader of House Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said the Subject Minister had made a detailed statement pertaining to the agreement. Minister Gunawardena claimed that the Subject Minister had agreed to present the documents related to the agreement in Parliament.
Meanwhile, several opposition members accused the government of signing the agreement without even tabling it before the Cabinet.
Minister Gunawardena said however the matter has been raised in Parliament previously and that the relevant Minister had issued a clarification.
