BRISBANE (NewsRadio); Afghanistan has won the toss and elected to bat first against Sri Lanka in a Super 12 contest of the 2022 Twenty20 World Cup in Brisbane.
Both teams made one change each to their playing XI from their respective previous encounters.
Gulbadin Naib replaced injured Hazratullah Zazai for Afghanistan while Sri Lanka dropped Chamika Karunaratne from the playing XI in favour of Pramod Madushan.
Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka at the toss said his team still has a chance of making it to the semi-finals and hoping to bounce back after back to back defeats.
He said the team is hoping to win today and the next game and give themselves a chance.
Sri Lanka can qualify for the semi-finals if results go their way.
Afghanistan skipper Mohammed Nabi said it’s a used pitch, and spinners will play a key part later on.
Meanwhile, rain is also in the forecast and could spoil the chances of both teams.
