Police have arrested an individual involved in a racket of selling vehicles obtained through rental companies to other parties.

Police received a complaint that the 32-year-old suspect, a resident of Kandy, could not be located after renting a car worth Rs.5 million from an establishment in Homagama.

It was revealed the suspect had provided false information to the firm.

Police during subsequent investigations uncovered that 48 complaints were lodged against the suspect at Police Stations island wide with six open Court warrants issued for his arrest.

Police said the suspect was remanded till the 9th of August after being produced before Court.
