An individual has been arrested by the Teldeniya Special Investigations Unit for submitting forged documents to a leasing company in Kurunegala in order to purchase a vehicle under his name claiming he had a deposit account of Rs.2.8 million at a private bank in Digana.
It was reported that documents with the letterhead of the bank carrying the signature of the manager were forged to purchase the vehicle worth Rs.2.4 million.
The 44-year-old suspect is a resident of Battaramulla and will be produced before the Teldeniya Magistrates Court today.
Police said investigations were carried out over a complaint received from the private bank.
