Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella says they will be compelled to impose travel restrictions once again, if they do not receive adequate support for COVID-19 mitigation efforts from the general public.
Speaking to media in Colombo, Health Minister Rambukwella said the novel coronavirus can be eradicated from the country only through the support of the general public.
The Minister said the government has taken all measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Meanwhile, he rejected claims that the country is at the brink of a fourth COVID-19 wave.
Minister Keheliya Rambukwella also refuted claims that a large number of COVID-19 cases have been detected from schools.
He said however if the public continues to disregard health guidelines, the number of coronavirus cases will continue to increase which will lead to the imposition of new curbs.
Minister Keheliya Rambukwella noted another lockdown or curfew will severely affect businesses and the country as well.
