The Public Health Inspector’s Union of Sri Lanka says stern legal action will be taken against individuals who organise various gatherings including weddings and parties, in violation of health guidelines issued by the Director General of Health Services.
Speaking to media Chairman of the Union Upul Rohana said a large group of persons arrive at the offices of the Medical Officer of Health daily seeking permission to hold various events, despite the issuance of health guidelines.
Rohana urged the public to be aware of the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country and to strictly adhere to health guidelines.
He said permission will not be granted for weddings, funerals, religious and non-religious events.
He said strict legal action will be taken against individuals in charge of the event if any such events are conducted in violation of current limitations and guidelines.
